Introduction on the conference
In the past years, the impact of Universities on regional economic
development has received growing attention of regional, national and European
policymakers. This attention is mainly focuses mainly on the following aspects:
- Spin-out of high tech start-up companies
- Settlement of existing companies in a
Technopolis region
- Development of high tech education tracks
- Development of science based incubators
- Co-operation between regional, national
& university policymakers
- Attraction of foreign companies and
employees
- Cultural aspects
As a main international player, the city of Delft organizes an
international conference on policymaking in regions, where Universities are
based.
The Conference Science Based
Regional Development will mainly focus on the role of Universities and the
impact they have on the high-tech development of cities and regions. During the
Science Based Regional Development
conference best practices in policymaking, performance indicators and topics on
business incubation will presented by renowned international speakers.
The conference also has a strategic function in itself, which will be
fostered by the possibility to launch a new international network on high-tech
regional development, mainly dedicated to policy makers of local and regional
governments and of universities.
The Technopolicy network will host the different parties, who are
involved in the policy making processes around a university.
Organising committee
The
organising committee represents the partners who organise and support the
conference. Science Alliance invites the speakers and is responsible for the
conference management.
